This cake was done for a friend’s baby shower.
The nursery theme they have chosen is baby, wild, African animals, with the giraffe being the mom-to-be’s favourite animal.
The first tier is chocolate cake with chocolate butter icing and the top tier is vanilla cake with cream cheese icing.

This is a picture of the four hand-drawn panels that were on the sides of the first tier:

The giraffe is completely sculpted by hand, using several pictures of a giraffe as reference. Here are a couple of pictures of the sugar paste giraffe while I was making it:

And these were taken on my workbench so they’re not fantastic, but I’m very pleased with how the giraffe turned out after I painted on his markings (and I didn’t photograph him from all sides once he was on the cake… :-/ )
