I know I’m not going to set the world on fire with this cake but I felt like sharing it for a particular reason. When I finished it last night I was deeply unhappy about it and about as far from loving it as I could possibly get. So I went to bed, slept, then looked at it this morning with fresh eyes and realised I actually quite love it. Unfortunately pale colours with little contrast don’t tend to photograph terribly well but I feel I’ve done a good job and that’s about the best we can hope for as Cake designers. 😊 xx
lizzie – its lovely! We are our own worst critics unfortunately! Im glad you liked it in the end :) btw- how did you do the dove stained window thingy? lol
I suppose the lesson learned is always walk away, give yourself some space and look at it through fresh eyes. Thanks for the lovely comments. The stained glass dove thingy 😉 was done with a patchwork cutter and flower paste Karen. I used it a couple of years ago for another confirmation cake and I thought it was about time it earned its keep! lol 😄 xx
i like that cutter a lot actually! Yup- good to use things you buy more than once lol. (i thought youd carved it out with a knife or something crazy!!!)
i should really have said that Karen. You’d think I Had some mad skills then! lol 😂 xx
I think it’s lovely, simple but meaningful design. ..wonderful crisp lettering

Thanks June. The lettering usually drives me a little nutty. I think I’ve just about finished and then it takes another 45 minutes to get the letters cut, arranged and glued on! lol 😀 xx
I think this is such a lovely cake! !!
