Would you believe, my husband doesn’t like cake very much? People are constantly asking him how he stays so lean while living with me surrounded by cake all the time. Well, he just doesn’t have a sweet tooth to speak of. He likes Pecan Pie, Tiramisu, & only a couple of cakes, most notably Red Velvet & German Chocolate.

He has NEVER asked me for a cake for his birthday before. In fact, he usually fusses at me if I do make him one, which of course I do! He’s always like “I don’t want a cake!” But this year, when he saw the hand-painted Longhorn in Bluebonnets cake that I made recently, for the first time ever, he asked me for a birthday cake. He said he wanted a SMALL (emphasis his) Bevo cake for the University of Texas Longhorns. Well, of COURSE I will happily do that for him! I’m just happy he wants a cake!

So, Hook ’em Horns! Here is Bevo, all hand-painted, on a Red Velvet Cake with Almond Amaretto White Chocolate buttercream filling. I can totally post it here without giving the surprise away. Haha!
