The original brief for this cake was dolly mixture and a rag doll. However, the rag doll was just not happening and try as I might I just couldn’t get it to look cute. So, plan B was to gently pursuade the client that a baby would be a much better option and much more personal. Thankfully they liked the idea. So, using the fabulous Carlos Lischetti book, I made some adaptions to his baby tutorial and cute Cara was born. I added the bears, using help and inspiration from Debbie Brown and incorporated a “spring” theme by adding the green grass and blossom flowers. I wanted to keep the colours soft and to ensure they matched throughout the cake, so I made my own dolly mixture sweets using bits of left over fondant.
