These are my Mary Poppins themed cupcakes that I entered at the NEC Cale International 2014.
It took me 2 days to make them and they are all hand made and painted, no stencils/cutters (other than the circles) were used. I did use a cobble embosser.

I was so nervous entering these. It took 3 hours to get to the NEC, leaving at 4am! As if the nerves weren’t enough when I went to place my cupcakes I read the rules on the table, as you do and saw they were different!!!
When I had read the rules, at least half a dozen times and very thoroughly, it stated ‘12 cupcakes, 2 flavours with 2 decorative styles’.
On the table it said just this but with the addition of ‘6 identical of each’! I nearly cried and gave up but knew I hadn’t misread it, I’m far to pedantic, so I looked online at the rules and sure enough I had read it right. I called over a judge and she was so lovely and understanding. She then got the head judge, who whilst not overly impressed with this error, did acknowledge the mistake and honour the original rules.

As you can imagine coming in on judging day was even more nerve wracking. Would they have judged me as everyone else? Would I have been down graded for ‘getting it wrong’?
We walked in. Firstly saw my apprentice had got a bronze in her class then she scream “You got GOLD!”…yep I cried!
