This cake was designed for the 29th Squires Kitchen Exhibition.
It is a six tier cake carved to create the elves home.
Inspired by an image of a tree with the window on pinterest. I had always wanted to do a large tree cake, but I couldn’t create the whole tree, so it became a stump.
I love the Spiderwick Chronicles and desperately wanted to make the Elves from Arthur Spiderwicks Field Chronicles (so they may be a little miniature to Arthurs elves lol). I made them both using oak and woodland cutters and veiners for their clothing
The door was created using the Fairy Door mould from FPC Sugarcraft, and the tree was made using their wonderful bark mould. Although, I did change it up a little.
The window used the hessian lace mat as the window pane
The wood anenome leaves were cut by hand from templates made from the flower. The flower was made using the orchard six petal pointed blossom.
The lesser cellandine was a daisy cutter and a violet cutter with geranium veiner for the leaves.
The violet was made with the cutters direct set and a violet veiner.
I hope you like it :)
