I made this cake for a “Wizard of Oz” competition at the “Cake Design Italian Festival” last year. The cake idea comes from an old picture in which the author L.Frank Baum was sitting in front of his typewriter…I imagined that the magic of the story was able to give life to the characters. The cake was all covered with sugar paste and the characters have been hand painted to look like an illustration from a book. I really enjoyed making this cake, i won the first prize and ended up being one of my favourite :)
