My littlest girl turned 2 mid January, with only 2 weeks between her and her sister’s birthday and everything the new year brings with it, it’s quite a struggle to put anything together but how could I disappoint! I keep thinking that at one stage they may have a joint cake but whilst they are still young and have different ideas I must oblige.
Arwen is just a little obsessed with Frozen so it was a no brainer and I loved the idea of a snowglobe cake. This one is loosely based on the actual Disney Frozen snowglobe although it was done rather hastily and I would have liked it to be neater. I always try to make something on my children’s cakes that we can keep so the Anna, Elsa and Olaf scene is on it’s own drum, larger than the opening of the bowl/snowglobe, so after peeling the icicles off I simply removed it and finished the drum with a ribbon to keep it, then we could serve the cake. When Arwen sees it she aways smiles and says ‘cake!’ Whilst we don’t have any photos of Arwen with her cake (bad nummy and daddy!) and actually this is the only photo of the cake, we have a little video of her blowing the candles out, a lovely little memory.
