Crosby Stills & Nash, Old Red Couch – 8/21/12 – Who doesn’t love CSN? I chose the iconic image of the beat-up couch from the cover of their first album – plus gumpaste ‘portraits in guitars’. No internal supports were used, only cardboard under the cake itself – even in guitar necks. The gents seemed to truly enjoy the piece, which was music to me after all the art they have given. Stephen Stills even played with the whammy bar on the sugar miniature replica of his guitar I made, and said he could hardly believe all the accurate detail. They posted a picture of this cake to the band’s Facebook page, and all the fans adored it. It was requested that I use low-glycemic (30) coconut sugar in this one, and both the cake and buttercream icing were made without any refined sugar at all. It was unbelievably tasty – like dark brown sugar. I would recommend it heartily!
