I just wanted to share with you a bit of fun for my husband’s 40th birthday. This is his stand in cake before I make a proper one for him after he has finished his exam paper. Poor thing couldn’t even celebrate his special day as he’s in study mode. So I made this for him to take to work so he could at least enjoy his day a bit. I gave it an Asian feel to celebrate his background and the onset of Chinese New Year. The little Fortune Cat (Maneki Neko) is to wish him luck for not only his exam paper but for a fortuitous future. I surrounded the chocolate fudge naked cake with Asian fruits – Rambutan, Longan and Lychee. The bottom tier has a japanese print fabric swatch that I loved to add a bit more colour to the dark chocolate layers. Wish him luck as he only has a few more weeks left of study hell x
