My client wanted a very special cake for her very talented son, who is a guitarist & also plays drums. His absolute favorite bands are the Beatles & Aerosmith. She sent me pictures of his personal guitar, which I made into the topper.

The bottom tier is a mashup of the Beatles’ most famous album covers. The background is the rainbow from Magical Mystery Tour, the silhouettes of Abbey Road, the Yellow Submarine, the drum from Sgt Peppers, & of course the Union Jack on the back. There is no fondant on this tier—-it is completely covered with modeling chocolate.

On the top tier, I hand-painted the Aerosmith logo to have the birthday boy’s name in it, & coated it in silver glitter. Various guitars in glitter also adorn the top tier, which is finished with a rhinestone glam ribbon. The guitar & drumstick toppers are gumpaste, & the guitar is hand-painted with woodgrain like his real guitar. All edible except the ribbon around the bottom of the top tier.

The top tier is a rich dark chocolate cake with chocolate chip cookie dough filling & dark chocolate ganache. The bottom tier is White Velvet cake with white chocolate buttercream filling & white chocolate ganache.
