Dia de Muertos Girl

Dia de Muertos Girl

I was honoured to be asked to be part of Sugar Skull Bakers 2014, such a fun collab and I’ve learnt so much about this celebration that I never knew.

Figure there’ll be a lot of pieces from this collab shared here on CakesDecor but I’m jumping in early as it’s now officially Dia de Muertos! I was really drawn to the puppets and dolls made in this style but also photographs of children dressed for the celebrations.

Here’s the official wording!….

Dia de Muertos or the “Day of the Dead” is a Mexican religious holiday to celebrate the memory of our dearly departed, it has grown in popularity over the years. One of it’s icons is the sugar skull the claverita made with sugar and decorated with flowers, it’s where we get our name, so this is how we became sugar skull bakers, a combination of the passion of 120+ bakers and cake designers from around the world.
The loved of skulls and our tradition has grown so much since last years SSB2013, that we decided to celebrate again this year, alot of our SSB2013 came back to play with us, and we have new sugar skulls hope you all enjoy Death has never looked this SWEET!

Thanks for looking :)

That’s great Calli, thank you!

Well seemed fitting as the celebration is today Jon and I’m always in awe when people start posting theirs so figured if I jumped in first I wouldn’t have to be brave later! Haha!
