This wedding cake has been a challenge, one of those where you just let the soul and exhausted, but happy and quite satisfied with the result.

Ana, the mother of the bride, called us to ask us for a surprise cake for the wedding of his daughter. Theirs are architects Antoni Gaudí love and the wedding was held in the beautiful church Gaudí Crypt, so that was one of the issues on which to focus for design.

We did 3 sketches, one inspired by the bride’s dress, one with the typical “Trencadís” Catalan architect and finally a more subtle design, with uneven waves and a cascade of orchids and ivy to match the bride’s bouquet. Our favorite was .. 3rd and was the unanimous winner.

We must clarify that the couple live outside Spain and Ana lives in Palma de Mallorca, so it was quite an adventure of emails and phone calls, to elicit details boyfriends, no muss surprise, and go deciding details the cake, relatively speaking. Blessed technology! : D

Representing the modernist and absolutely unique spirit of Gaudí without falling into the mosaic was the most complicated.

As good “Barcelonina” I have brought up seeing their beautiful buildings, even so I took a walk to refresh my memory … draw several designs, but none convinced me, and suddenly I came alone, without forcing, I did the sketch on 5 minutes and knew it was the one.
Waves and unequal volumes reminded me of La Pedrera and the cascade of orchids to no more than improve the design, since one of the great passions of Gaudí was nature, which often introduced in their buildings. To enhance volumes, I played with satin in shades from cream to champagne, to get a touch deep and 20s.

The cascade of sugar flowers include orchids Phalaeonopsis, bulbs and ivy made and hand painted and completely edible.

For the interior of the cake, they chose two flavors of our Charter, two of “Love story”; Vanilla and pistachio irani cake filled with cream meringue and raspberries, and two floors of “Gone With the Wind”; Lebanese tart yogurt and fresh blackberries cream filled Swiss berries and black chocolate ganache.

The dress of the bride, bouquet and decor had a point Gatsby 20’s, perfectly accompanying the design of the cake.
The banquet was held at the El Principal restaurant Skylight Group set in a beautiful room like an old library with large windows overlooking the patio.

In addition, we have had the pleasure of working with the wonderful team of design and photography Studio Torden who was in charge of the photo shoot. Certainly not be the last time we work with them.

I am more than happy with their work. :)

Sweet life

Mericakes
