Okay, I know that you are all probably fed up of the millions of frozen cakes that have been hitting your news feeds!
But I was asked for one and I immediately didn’t want to do them as adults. I wanted to show them as children enjoying themselves.

A quick search later for inspiration and I couldn’t find any cakes of them as children but plenty of pictures. So I figured I’d try hand painting one of the pictures I’d found. I’d long admired the hand painted cakes of Time for Tiffin, so off I went.

Hand painting is oddly calming but golly does time disappear when you are doing it! I will be doing the technique again as I loved the end result.

The cake is a triple layer fine vanilla sponge with strawberry compote and vanilla buttercream. The layers were coloured white, blue and purple.
