Woo – I am SO excited to share my first painted cake with you! Dedicated to my sweet friend Jon at JT Cakes – sweet Jon has been such an inspiration to me with his amazing painting. He encouraged me to try painting on a cake – to challenge myself to try another technique way outside my comfort zone. This little lady was painted directly on wafer paper with Americolor gel colors and shaded it with petal dusts. I didn’t thin them at all, the wafer paper didn’t warp or bleed and the gels dried really quickly. The reason I painted on wafer paper instead of directly on the cake is because this cake is all buttercream – ruffles and all. I adhered the wafer painting onto the buttercream with a thick coat of piping gel -again, no bleeding or warping! So fun to try new things and learn new tips! :) There is a little bleeding around the edges – I outlined it directly on the cake and those were the only areas that had problems. If I do it again, I would outline entirely before applying to the cake! Thanks for looking!
