This cake was made for an 18th birthday. Sophie loves owls and butterfly’s and wanted a very girlie cake, so we chose really soft colours and made the owl super cute. I airbrushed the number 18 to give it more depth and tried to make a cake a little more funky by adding a zebra strip bow around the bottom. The toadstools were also airbrushed on top, but the light green at the bottom was dusted on with a paint brush.
Everything on the cake is edible apart from the wires in the sugar flowers and the stamen on the butterflies.
I finished this cake late at night after a busy week and kept looking at it and thinking there was something wrong/missing. It was only when I was tidying up that I came across the wings and suddenly realised that it was these that were missing! At least I worked this out before the cake was picked up! Lol. Hope you like the cake. Sam
