This cake is based upon my favorite book: The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers.
This is a Devil’s Food cake and Yellow cake with Chocolate Fudge Buttercream that is stacked, and cut in half, giving me a flat surface to work on! Bluebear is painted on the cake itself, and the Mini Pirates are made of modeling chocolate and fondant. The illustrations on the curved sides of the cake are hand painted on fondant plaques and attached to the cake. Enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed making it!
