My birthday cake

For the first time, I decided to make myself a birthday cake. It was not exactly a success. Kitchen was way too warm. I also decided to try something I had seen where you turn the cake upside down after covering with the fondant in order to get a nice crisp edge at top and neat bottom. It did not go well. As you can see, it is not all that neat but hopefully it tastes good. It is Rumchata cake with caramelized apple filling and rumchata frosting.

Thank you all. You are really sweet. I really feel like I took a giant step backwards with this one. Doesn’t look like it was done by the same person as last week’s wedding cake. I think I will take a little break. Perhaps work on a gum paste flower to get a little confidence back.
