I had the huge honour of making Flip the bear’s birthday cake this week for my daughter’s nursery class.

Flip is the Peter Pan of bears, only ever celebrating his 4th birthday. Every year Flip has a party, and sends each child an invitation. They in turn make him a birthday card. The children get the chance to eat party food, blow out the candles on Flip’s cake and play party games.

Flip has been an important member of the nursery team for many years and has been all around the World on many adventures with the children. Each week a different child is chosen to take Flip home for the weekend and they fill in a diary of what they’ve been up to. He has been to our house three times now over the last 5 years, as each of my children has been to nursery. He’ll be back again next year for the final time when my youngest begins his nursery adventure.

When I was asked to make his cake, I instantly knew that he needed to be immortalised in sugar.

We hope you like him as much as we do. We think he is just adorable.
