Lilac’s have always been a lovely memory for me.
My Father would sing “We’ll gather Lilac’s in the Spring again.” to my mum all the time.
This was one of her favourites. It is an old war time song that describes the yearning for parted couples to be reunited with their loved ones.
It describes the joy of togetherness once again and the pleasures of the English Countryside in Spring with it’s Lilac Blossoms.

“We’ll gather Lilacs in the Spring again
And walk together down an English Lane.
Until our hearts have learnt to sing again.
When you come home once more.”

I was honoured to be part of 50 other phenomenal cake decorators in a wonderful floral collaboration. We each chose a flower to create a cake to honour the amazing women we call our Mums which was revealed on Mothers Day. This cake is a tribute to my own mum and all mums throughout the world.
