I loved the color scheme & decor for this cake—a birthday cake for a very sophisticated 16-year-old girl. It just makes me think of Audrey Hepburn for some reason—-understated, sophisticated, elegant, yet feminine. I wanted to combine buttercream ruffles with a fondant ribbon, & I wasn’t sure how well it would work, but I love how it turned out!

This was my first attempt at a wafer paper rose, & I just loved it! I made the rose on a skewer, then brushed it with water to create the ruffles & life in the petals, then airbrushed it with pearl shimmer & added some glitter. You KNOW I’ve got to have my ‘glittuh’! I just love how delicate the petals are, & they are translucent, which is so pretty!

All cream cheese buttercream with fondant accents & Sixlets pearls. Cherry Limeade cake—-Key lime cake with cherry cream cheese filling.
