I made this cake as a gift to the lady who owns the nail salon, & all her family & employees, that do such a wonderful job on my crazy wild nails I’m always coming up with,
She requested a chocolate cake with the flavor ‘alcoholic’! Haha! Knowing her love for coffee—-she always has a fancy coffee drink next to her when I am at her table—-I put together a cake that would be like a luscious spiked coffee. The cake is Australian Chocolate Mud, soaked in Kahlua, with White chocolate buttercream filling, spiked with Godiva White Chocolate Liquer & Bailey’s Irish Cream. It is iced with Milk Chocolate Ganache, flavored with Peppermint Kahlua.
I walked in to the salon & told her I brought her a present instead of making a cake. They all totally fell for it. She said she thought the cake was in the box!!! Haha! I even had to take a pic of it under my tree, since it looks so much like a real present!
This was my first time stenciling in royal icing on fondant. I’d had this gorgeous stencil for months, & finally got an excuse to use it! I stenciled in white, then went back & airbrushed it gold metallic. All edible decor.
