Hi Cake decorators,
I have some problem that i’m trying to resolve right now, pls help me with some advice. I’m gonna make my first wedding cake for my brother in law on december. I’ts a 5 tier square wedding cake, my problem now is that the wedding will be held very far away from my place. It’s 1,456 kilometer distance from my place and we will be traveling by land and sea and it will take 3-4 days travelling time.
pls advice me what im gonna do because i am already planning of things to avoid disaster incase and if traveling the cake that far distance is hard then atleast at early im going to advice my brother in law to get a baker that is near from the place.
1. im planning to bake the cake 3 days before our first day trip in my house and bring it there. I am worried that the cakes are already rotten and its not good to eat anymore?
2. I am planning to ganache the cake then stack it in the car and put the fondant when we reach the place. Does the chocolate gnache is okay to travel that long? i am worried it will melt along the way because during the trip we need to stop by a hotel to sleep over then move again.
3. can I travel with airplane bringing those cake with ganache or with out ganache? i am worried with the charge? travelling by plane is my second option but i need to explain it with my hubby if its okay with him to travel separate because he needs someone to be with him while travelling that far. I feel not safe driving alone with my only daughter in the car and im in the plane.
4. ganaching and putting the fondant while traveling is not an option because im sure the it will destroy because of the humid we have here in our country.
your response is very much appreciated..thank you!
