What I usually do is just add scraped vanilla bean seeds and pure vanilla extract if you don’t mind the specks in the buttercream. Or you always steep a vanilla bean pod in the liquid and let it cool remove the pod and then use the liquid like you usually do in your buttercream recipe. Hope that helpd :)

in regards to steeping the vanilla pods-Wouldn’t that be like make a vanilla extract of some sort? When you steep them does it have a stronger flavor?

Use Vanilla Bean Paste in addition to vanilla in a vanilla cake recipe. :0) Lots of yummy goodness!
