I do have another question, I usually use a foam cake board to support the weight of the cake when it’s a a small 3 tiered cake. Now, if I’m doing a 4 tiers wedding cake, is it ok to use 2 foam round cakeboard? One larger diameter than the cake, glued on another larger diameter foam board? Hope you understand what I mean! Please can you advise me how to handle the weight of the 4 tiered cakes? Thanks a lot!

Would definitely use 2 for a 4 tier I made a 4tier wedding cake, was a 12 & 10" fruit a 8" chocolate and a 6"sponge with a 14 and 16" boards, glued them together and they held up perfectly xx

My most recent 4 tier wedding cake i posted last week here, I put two cake boards together and reinforced the base underneath with wood cross bar for extra support.

I order Masonite boards for all cakes 4 tiers and over or those that require a round board and pass those charges into those cakes. Otherwise I get 1/2 inch thick plywood board from Home Depot and have them cut it into 12×12 squares.

Word of advice; whatever you use…err on the side of caution and use more support than you think you’ll need…If I think 2 layers of foam core will suffice…then I use 3. Better safe than sorry:)
