Awning help!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to put an awning over a door on a cake. I wanted to make a little house and I love awnings but wasn’t sure how to do one or how to attach it and get it to stay. I love the rounded awning but any awning advise would be awesome. Thanks so much guys!!!!

I would tackle this by making the awning out of gumpaste and let it dry for a few days. After it is dried I would use royal icing to glue it to the side of the cake. Also depending on how thick you make the awning you could use skewers or toothpicks to help you with some support along with gluing it to the cake.

Not sure this is the best way but the way I would think to do it :) Good Luck!

The reply above sounds good but remember as the awning is drying to support the weight with something under it…not sure what to use to support it but I definitely would….good luck and Happy Baking.

I did a Sesame Street cake a few years ago and did the awning over Mr. Hooper’s store. I made my awning out of fondant inserted wires and let it dry. I was amazed how stable it was and how well it stayed in.

Here is a photo!
