I have to say Karen, this has never popped up on my phone, IPad or PC. Curious…

Hi June x never happened to me before tonight either. I’m on my laptop so I’ll do a routine clean up and see if it goes. Thanks for letting me know you’re not seeing it though. xx

Well Karen…guess what??? I had to plug in my phone, so I went on CD on my IPad. Cookies message popped right up. This is the first time!!!

Yes I got the cookie message pop up on my phone as well, not my other devices though. My phone is a nexus and driven by google, not Apple. Interesting how it’s popped up.

I had a pop up for the cookies message too on my iphone!!

It’s happened to me to,so annoying

Hi Karen, so glad you wrote this, I had one pop up on my phone too and thought I had perhaps done something wrong with my settings. I often have to clean up my PC after being on CD as well, which may be just a coincidence of course. xx

I got it yesterday too. Most sites use cookies, it’s how the site remembers you. I was thinking there was a new rule put in place that we all had to agree or something and that is why it’s coming up all over.

Thanks for confirming ladies.
I tuned up my PC, deleted my browsing history and it’s still there, so it must have been installed on purpose. It’s driving me mad. I don’t want to click on ‘got it’ or I’ll be collecting flippin cookies again. If it keeps on I’ll probably think twice about using this site in future. Feeling compromised. All the while I’m typing this it’s sitting at the bottom of my screen. Dam sure I’m not going to accept it. Sorry if I’m being difficult, but that’s how I feel.

karen,Gwynedd

I’m not accepting it either!! I will not belong to this site any longer if this is how they want to be!

I see it too…not clicking on the yellow “got it” button

Angel Cakes

It would be good if Michal would comment. I’ve messaged him to ask his opinion on it and confirm if he has knowingly applied it to the site.
Hopefully we’ll find out soon xx

Hey all, I’m sorry I didn’t explain it to you already, but I thought you have had an experience with this on other sites already. I would like to explain you what are cookies, who use them, why they are used and why there is such kind of pop-up displaying on our web.

What are cookies? Definition
Cookies are usually small text files, given ID tags that are stored on your computer’s browser directory or program data subfolders. Cookies are created when you use your browser to visit a website that uses cookies to remember your registered login, preferences, and other customization functions.

Every website you are Signed Up to(CakesDecor, gmail, facebook, pinterest, instagram, twitter, eShops you are ordering tools from …etc. ), uses cookies to store your login information and account settings. Also, almost all websites(I would say 99%) that you don’t have to Sign Up, use cookies to store some data as well. These information helps the web to remember some important information.

It is probably not important to inform visitors about this anywhere all over the world but in Europe Union. Europe Union released Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations the other day that order us to inform you that we are using cookies to store some data.

I get this pop-up every day on lot of websites, so I thought it is pretty common for all of you. But it seems it’s only here in Europe.

Cookies are very common in North America too Michal. As you said 99% of sites use them.

Thanks Michal,
I understand it now, even though I don’t like it.
As I said to you in my private reply to you, I feel it’s an invasion of privacy, but it’s part of the world we live in, and we forgoe privicy just by using the internet. The choice is ours if we agree to accept it.

karen,Gwynedd

Maybe so, but I don’t get this kind of pop-up on any other website I go to. I think I’ll step away from cakes décor sadly.

I’m giving it serious thoughts too Jan x
Might have to move to FB to keep in touch with everyone.

karen,Gwynedd

Facebook uses Cookies too Karen. Any site that you have an account with uses them. That is how the site remembers it’s you and your selected preferences. It certainly sounds more intrusive then it is. But this is the internet and nothing is really private unfortunately.

Teri, Ontario, Canada http://www.TeriLovesCake.ca

Yes MsGF/Teri
You’re correct. FB, Google, on and on…they all use Cookies. You have to be off the internet entirely to avoid…

You’re right ladies but I don’t like it – the choice is mine I know.
It’s a big brother world.

karen,Gwynedd

Sure, the choice is yours, but I think you should be informed to make the best decision.

The best thing about this is that largest websites like Facebook are the Biggest Brothers of all. It tracks almost everything about you including scanning your private messages and use it for serving you “the right posts” and “the right ads” ;).
