Oooh thank you so much you guys are so kind. I thought my 8yr old would also flip over it but instead he critiqued it like nobodies business, lol. I think this may have been why the last 2 years they have wanted a mine craft cake I have said no. I also told them they have been spoiled by seeing some of my better work that now when I have one that is not quite what I would like it to be they also are not happy. Future cake judges I think is what I am raising, lol.

Thank you Pauline and my lovely, dear friend Fiona for your wonderfully kind words. I think it was Versus who said earlier about how she is her worst critic and I had an idea of what I wanted and just did not get there all the way. That split decision not to use fondant was it for me. I had never used wafer paper before so was not 100% sure how this would go. I think if I had done white fondant or even white ganache underneath I may have been fine.

Oh wow this looks totally fabulous. Fabulous figures and edges to die for. I dread the day my kids may ask for a Minecraft cake…….I may have to make up some excuse as to why not. Lovely :)

For me it looks great, precise and accurate, the square box is just perfect. May I ask you what wafer paper is? Thanks in advance : )

I love it! This has got to be the cleanest finish I’ve seen yet on the blocks!

Thank you Jo and Kate you are way to kind. Hey Jo wafer paper is an edible paper that you can print on, it is made from potato starch. I thought I would give it a go as I had run out of the edible image paper. It is a lot harder to work with in this circumstance as it was so hard to get it to stick and then you could see where I had put the corn syrup which is what my son hated about this cake.

Thank you so much for your explanation, really helpful. I had no idea what wafer paper was, thank you for sharing your knowledge with me : )

Kate you are very welcome. Here is a cake that was done not long ago using wafer paper for their flowers, I have also seen one use it as ribbon. Oh I would also like to give twimmongirl a big shout out as it was her cake just a few weeks ago that inspired this one and gave me the idea of using an edible image. I do not want to take credit for this design.

Did you make your own edible images or purchase them some where? I really have to make this cake for my son in January!
