Here is the recipe I use. It’s cooked flour frosting/icing. I’ve covered a cake with it and used in hot, humid weather, covered with fondant. I adapted by using 3/4 cup shortening & 1/4 cup butter, added 1 cup icing sugar and tblsp of meringue powder.

Don’t flavour your cake will be, but ganache would work to. Dries hard, and will hold up well in humid conditions.
