re: Looking for Pricing Guidance from Professional Cake Artists

Hello….if you’re looking to run errands for baking supplies for bakeries, I personally don’t see a need for it. As a bakery owner for 35 years, our supplies are delivered weekly by large distributors. Plus with all the online vendors available in our specialty of cakes, it’s so easy to just pop online and order what we need to be delivered via parcel post.
Having said all that….. there could be a need for your service. Instead of shopping for supplies for bakers, how about letting bakeries know that you could deliver the smaller cakes and/or whatever else the bakery makes to customers. I get requests from people that live out of state at least a couple times a month that would like to have cakes delivered to loved ones in the area. Our bakery has only one delivery person that delivers to our wholesale accounts and he doesn’t have the time to go off route and deliver very small orders.
On occasion, a customer has called a local delivery service (or taxi) to pick up their order and deliver it to them. The order is paid in advance by the customer, usually via credit card over the phone, then the rest of the transaction is between the customer and delivery company.
Hope this helps….
