gathered fondant tutorial

Roll piece of fondant/gumpaste mixture (50:50) and cut it to irregular pieces

Use the back of a paintbrush or veiling tool, dust it with cornstarch to prevent sticking the sugar paste and pinch the ends together. Gather the piece by pressing the piece from left to right and leave the piece aside. Make 15-20 pieces and then start to attach them to the cake.

Brush small area of your cake with edible glue or piping gel. Use the back of a paintbrush to attach the pieces to the cake. No template needed, arrange them as you want (vertical, horizontal) Just try to keep the billowing effect.
