Kitchen Aide (new purchase leaving gray color in batter)

I just purchased a new Kitchen Aide and after washing the bowl thoroughly with dawn and hot water my dough had a gray color going through it. It looked like metal. I messaged kitchen aide and this was there response. So, if anyone has this issue here is your answer: A mechanical polishing process is used in stainless steel bowls to make them shiny. Occasionally, new stand mixer bowls may have residue in the bowl that cannot be removed in the dishwasher or by hand washing. This residue can discolor food items mixed in the bowl and is not harmful.

To remove this residue Wash the bowl with warm water and a good detergent. •KitchenAid recommends using Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove this residue. It can be purchased at many retailers. ◦It is important to rub it into the bowl in a circular motion – with the grain of the stainless steel, to minimize the possibility of scratching the bowl. Or, use a mixture of lemon juice and salt, or a baking soda paste to clean the bowl. These are food safe alternatives with abrasive qualities that will adequately clean the bowl. My guess is that it’s not your bowl, it’s the grease from the gears. Sometimes it’s hard to see, but when it’s new, you sometimes get a little excess grease coming down from where you attach your whisk or paddle. Try wiping it with a white paper towel and see if you see something on it.
