Which is the easiest way to stamp my fondant, with it on the cake, or should I roll out a square stamp it, then try to put is around the cake?
I found it easier to press the impression mat on the fondant when it’s on the cake. Much easier to control.

Great to hear this, wasn’t sure how to do it, being this is the first time I will be using a stamp, I didn’t want to tackle it on the mat first then try to put it on the cake..:)
Do you put anything on the stamp, like crisco before stamping? or cornstarch.
No, I didn’t use anything. Just pushed the mat into the fondant. Mat didn’t stick or get stuck upon pulling off. I would wait until your fondant has set up firm, but not rock hard. Too soft and the stamp will stick. I found it very easy to do. Here’s the cake I did with the stamp/mat.

perfect that’s exactly what I need to make on my grandson cake, his is going to be mario brothers and it is red brick wall around it.. awesome thank you, love the cake so cool, what is the have made with?
You mean hand?? Hee Hee…it’s rct’s. It was done for a cake collaboration.
I was also thinking. If you don’t want to push your stamp into the cake. You could roll out the fondant, press in the mat/stamp, let fondant harden a bit. Cut it in sections, then apply to your cake. That would also be another simple way to do it.

i recently made a castle cake, i stamped the brick on the fondant before i wrapped it round the cake and some of the bricks were a little wavy and wonky.
so, i would definately press it into the fondant when its on the cake next time xx
