Help please satin ice fondant

Hi everyone I’ve just used satin ice fondant for the first time and I’m wondering if what I did was right ? As it was full of air bubbles even though I hardly had to need it to make it playable also I’ve never had to use so much icing sugar on any fondant befor to stop it sticking to the counter is this right as it felt totally wrong. On the + side it was easy to get sharp edges with any help advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you Lorraine xx

I normally mix it with PME sugarpaste/fondant – say i want to cover a 15cm by 10cm tall cake, I use 400grm PME, 200 Satin ice… I do live in a humid climate. Hope this helps. :)

Hiya, I just used Satin ice for the first time and also found it really sticky – I used lots a of icing sugar and a non stick mat. I didn’t find too many air bubbles though. I’ve also mixed it with Cake Stuff ‘s own fondant which made a really nice and non sticky fondant – So I think I’ll use this combo from now on :):)

Thank you Lady’s for your feedback I will try mixing it with other fondants and see how I get on. I’ve another small cake to make for the weekend so will try it on that again thank you Lorraine x

Good luck – hope combining works for you :):) x

I used Satin Ice on a 50th wedding anniversary cake I did. I found it to me unfriendly, downright hostile! LOL! It was way too soft for my level of expertise. I tried lifting it to put it on the cake and it tore, almost fell apart. I ended up kneading some Wilton fondant into it to make it behave.

It is very soft. I think it’s a case of using the right sugar paste for the right project. It’s brilliant for pleating and getting sharp edges but if you’re used to a firmer paste it will take some adjusting to.
