"UP" HOUSE

"UP" HOUSE

Wanted to make this for a long time. Sugarpaste balloons attached to hollow pastillage egg into which I inserted a sugarstick, then attached strings made from unbreakable gel. Grass made with a dresden tool, one blade at a time which took about a week and fence made with Pastillage. House was covered in Fondant and ‘floated’ on a small candlestick. Hope you enjoy it.

Did you enter this cake into CI? If so I remember seeing it, totally brilliant!

Thank you Carol, it was not judged as the candlestick I used to ‘float’ it was not edible, dont think I could have got quite the same effect with an edible one as it would have had to be much wider to support it, however one of the Judges told me everything else was perfect so that was some consolation. Lesson learned.

Aww what a shame, maybe next time you can enter in as an exhibit then you can have non edible stuff to hold it up!! Like you say lesson learn but never mind. It was mind blowing. I entered for the first time and came away with a silver, totally shocked as the standard was very high. Blooming nerve wrecking tho :)
