Art Dress Cake ~

This cake was made as a surprise for a very talented young lady. Annie has created many works of fashion art and her Dress Lamp won 1st prize.
When I was first asked if I could replicate the lamp in cake, I freaked out a bit and had no clue how I could do it….but I was up for the challenge. I did say though that this would be my representation of Annies’ Art work in cake as best I could and not a replication of it…
Feeling a bit cross eyed after as it felt like I made a million little pyramids in fondant. I lifted the cake off the board so it gave the effect it was floating. This was one of those cakes where there were times I would just sit and stare at it wondering what to do next. No tears on this one – but it certainly was a challenge to stick the little pyramids on which kept falling off. Hopefully the only tears are tears of joy when the birthday girl sees her cake.
The cake flavor is my new favourite – Orange Marmalade cake with White Chocolate Ganache….but they have to get through all that sugar first!!!!
