I just love the glitz and glamour of the 1920’s, with all the sequin and feather flapper dresses, so I’ve been wanting to create this cake (and buy the dress!!) ever since I found the picture of the dress I based the design on. So after being further inspired by the fantastic Zoe Clarke’s 1920’s Fabulous Feathers cake I just had to make it!
It was so much fun to make, I even enjoyed sticking each of the individual edible sequins and pearls on one by one, which made me cross eyed for a while, ha ha I must be mad! The idea wasn’t to replicate the dress exactly but to choose elements that I liked and that would work in sugar and icing. It was one of those cakes that you just love to watch develop as you work on it. Hope you like it
I just need to buy the actual dress now :)
It is just fantastic!
