This here is my nineteenth birthday cake from this year.
I am a competitive artistic roller skater, and as it is a big part of my life and what I love I wanted my cake to reflect that, so I sought to make a cake to match. After doing some research, most roller skating cakes had a very seventies ‘vibe’. Now I understand that roller skating was very popular in the seventies but I wanted a cake that reflected the beauty and grace of my sport, rather than a seventies cake.
Additionally I am a huge fan of the chevron so I sought to put this on the cake as well, applying this to the cake was definitely a challenge! I ran with a color scheme of pink and gold, as pink is my favourite colour and gold… well I just thought it looked cohesive!
I am also a huge fan of sugar flowers, and wouldn’t miss this opportunity of putting flowers on my cake for the world! Most of the flowers I had made before, but I got to experiment with some new ones too such as the peonies.
The cakes themselves were Chocolate, to please the majority of people there ad carrot as it’s my personal favorite. Both cakes were baked by my lovely assistant.
It was a big hit at my party, in particular with the skating circle! Everyone adored the sparkles!
