A small two tiered cake (8", 5") carry a peacock for a 30th birthday for a young lady who loves peacocks! The peacocks was formed with rkt and then covered with fondant. Tail feathers where cut using flower petal cutters. The feathers where then textured on a veining tool, and layered. I wanted to add some gold highlights to the tail feathers, but I was short on gold pearl luster dust. I had mixed some gold petal dust with white pearl luster dust, but it wasn’t working. I took some yellow food gel and added it the extract I was using and stirred it into the pearl dust. When it hit the teal colored base petal, it turned a vibrant lime pearl green. When I brushed the lavender petals, it turned a pearly bronze. I was happy with the over all effect of the petals.
Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
You did a beautiful job with the peacock feathers – I’m sure it was a lot of work!
