This cake almost had me in tears!
A red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, covered in white fondant, decorated with pink and white fondant roses and pink sugar pearls and black and silver ribbon.
I loved making the roses, I used a free tutorial from Shereen’s Cakes and Bakes for these, but covering this cake just did not want to work. Reason for this is, it was March and summer.( For those who aren’t familiar with South African weather: We only have about 3 months winter a year and the rest of the time we have really nice weather.)
This particular Saturday was just a bit hotter than usual, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t cover the cake without making a big mess of the frosting and the fondant. I eventually got it done without too many flaws, but far from perfect.
The important thing however was that the client was happy and this is still one of my favorite cakes this year.

It is so pretty! I can certainly relate to your issue. Happened to me last year with my daughter’s birthday cake in August. Ughh
very nice!
