I was asked to make this cake about 3 months ago for a special Granddaughter turning 13.
So I approached my local Converse dealer and they kindly allowed me to take measurements of a size 13 boot. I was a bit concerned at one stage that it would look like a clown’s boot as it seemed so big, but after a bit of reassurance about the measurements I had taken, and things being in proportion, my mind was put at ease.
Armed with the free tutorial in Lesley from Royal Bakery’s notes, I gradually stacked, carved and iced this rather large shoe, and what you see is my purple Converse.
As for photographing purple and not having it turn blue, I decided to take it outside and place it on a piece of wood to get the natural light in the hope of the shoe staying purple (I had added alot of pink into the icing in the hope that would work but it didn’t in artificial light).

Purple or blue, either way its absolutely amazingly sensational. You did an amazing job of this Sarah bet you are rapped with how it turned out :)

Robin, yes I am delighted how it turned out. Purple is also my favourite colour, such a shame it misbehaves behind a camera lens and I almost cringe every time someone askes for a cake with purple ":)

Worst nightmare, made the purple shoe box and shoe for my daughter in laws birthday finished about 8pm turned the lights out crashed for the night woke up next morning and the shoe box was blue. Only bonus was it wasn’t for a paying customer. I was shattered though
Yeah purple has alot to answer for Robin, I have had lavender fade really badly too.
