This is my biggest commission to date… made this Madagascar Circus themed cake for little Davina’s first birthday bash! Davina’s mom wanted all the main animal characters of the Madagascar movie, replicated in sugar on a 3 tiered cake with the emphasis that the cake must be colorful and happening. She gave me full reign over the design and so I came up with this colorful circus themed cake with eleven Madagascar animals performing their best circus acts!

Presenting…
Gloria the Hippo balancing on tip toe at the pinnacle of the circus tent and with parasol in hand!
Alex the Lion in his role as the “Ring Master”!
The penguins with their acrobatic act where we have Kowalski balancing on Private’s head and Rico balancing on Skipper’s head! Both Private and Skipper are also balancing on one leg at the edge of the cake!
The lemurs King Julien in his bejeweled feather headdress, right hand man Maurice and cute Mort presenting the circus plaque with the birthday girl’s name on it!
Marty the zebra and Melman the giraffe in their roles as the “Animal Cannon Balls”, about to be shot out of the cannons!

To give the cake a vintage feel, I painted the scrolls on Davina’s circus plaque and the tip of the circus flag pole with edible 24K gold.
