A year ago I made my first fully decorated cake for my friend Kelly. It was making that cake that got me hooked on cake decorating. And now a year on I have a website, Facebook page, Twitter account, business cards at the printers and am thinking of registering KatyBakey as a business rather than it just being my hobby. Something I never though would happen when I was making that first cake.

I loved making this cake as sugarflowers are yes fiddly to make, but always put a smile on my face when I have finished.

So although i’m not sure Kelly is happy to be another year older, I was delighted when her birthday came around again and I had a chance to make her another cake. So Happy Birthday Kelly and thank you for inspiring me to start my baking adventure.
