I like to create a picture with my cakes and, as this was for my Grandad’s 90th birthday, it had to have a vintagey feel which I love. Three types of cake for the family to scoff, the watering can being a large double barrel cake which even had ‘water’ inside (last pic). The bench with the number 90 on the back was handmade with foamboard, and covered with fondant to give a wooden texture. The blossom tree was purely decorative as this huge cake had to travel 500 miles down the motorway. As my Grandma was a ‘classic’ cake decorator back in the day they love my creations, and glad to say it was a big hit with my Grandad’s bowling team when my Gran finally allowed him to cut it over a week later. :)
