This Alice in Wonderland cake was commissioned by a fabulously eclectic couple who handed me a book (The madness of Alice) and said they wanted something EPIC! – So I went to the drawing board and sketched up a couple of designs, this was by far the most ‘out there’ and was secretly punting for it, when they felt the same I was ecstatic.
The cake was for a wedding at the Royal Horseguards Hotel yesterday, this week has been so enlightening, fun and testing. After 40 hours of work the cake was then ready for transporting (which is the most tourmenting part of cake making), but phew, after 2 hours in traffic it arrived in one piece, ready for the arms, legs, rabbit, Cheshire cat and mushroom to be assembled.
The cake measured just shy of 3ft tall, it was shaded using a good old paintbrush and dusting powders.
