This cake has been made for a young lady named Sally who celebrates her 18th birthday this weekend. Her mum Alison requested two cakes, one for cutting with the family and one for Sally and her friends.

The only direct requirements was not to have Sally wearing a green dress as she is a red head and didn’t want to end up looking like Fiona out of Shrek. I have actually toned down the hair colour with a deeper base colour and orange highlights and it worked quite well.

The base tier is a vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream and the top tier is chocolate with chocolate ganache buttercream.
