Chocolate Mud Cake for the Village Raffle at the Tenth Houghton Trail Run/Cycle. Details of the event are on the webpage www.houghton-trail-event.org.uk
10″ × 5″ cake covered with ganache and decorated with sugarpaste. Everything edible. Usual scenario … not enough time to do it so this cake needed to be straightforward with nothing balancing or tiny fiddly work. Opted for the colourful retro look to compensate! The little girl that won it was so, so thrilled!
The event itself, including entries, teas/coffees, cakes and this raffle raised £4,000. Net £3750 after some expenses we couldn’t avoid.
Nearly 400 competitors crammed into our little village from far and wide (even Spain!) to take part in this very popular cross country run and cycle. A great day for all.
