This cake was made for a young girl turning 15 and her family wanted to do a small intimate gathering for her. She wanted something simple and not overly done yet feminine. We went with a delicious vanilla sponge cake, Nutella buttercream filling and a vanilla speckled frosting. Instead of draping fondant over to create a blank canvas, she liked the idea of a naked cake with some lace components. The “tulle” sugar ribbon was textured before wrapping around the base of each layer and the simple lace appliqué was hand cut and wrapped along the ribbon. Blush pink roses, rose buds and sweet peas along with a hand calligraphed name plaque finish the look of the cake.
