Lots of firsts for me with this cake. Firstly I’m not really used to doing pretty cakes so this was quite different in style for me. I had not attempted a 4 tier wonky cake before especially one that was to travel 90 miles by car on wiggly roads! I had to design it in two parts that would be easy to stack together by the family of the birthday girl at the other end. It was a 12inch chocolate mud cake, 9inch vanilla, 7inch chocolate mud and 5 inch vanilla, All three layers high!
Also the first time I’ve ever painted on a cake…put it off for so long before I was brave enough to give it a go! Turned out I really enjoyed it! The final challenge for me was completeing it in time! and also making the 100 mixed flavour cupcakes to go with it, chocolate, caramel and toffee :0)
