I made this cake a couple of weekends ago. The bride wanted her cake to look like burlap. I had the hardest time coming up with an impression mat I liked. I finally wound up using the grippy shelf liner that I use under my cakes to prevent them from sliding as an impression mat. It looked way better than the ones I bought!

This is absolutely stunning! I am in awe at all of those gorgeous roses! They must have taken you forever to make. How creative you were using a grippy shelf liner as an impression mat. I think it really did give you the burlap look you wanted.

Thanks for all the kind words! @whitecrafty – I cannot tell a lie… I bought those roses at Cal Java – They’re called a “bloomed garden rose” and they are so great looking!

Well, you may not have made the roses Jennifer, but you arranged them perfectly, and that is what makes the cake so gorgeous!
